Data sources & credits
Listings in Do I Need A Fishing Guide? are compiled from the sources below. Each is named with the dataset it came from, the licence it is used under, and the credit that licence requires. Where a licence makes attribution a condition of use, that credit is reproduced here word for word.
Required attributions
- Google Maps — Google Maps Platform Terms of Service (credentialed paid API)
Credited as a precaution
For these sources we could not read and quote a licence — the page states none, or it refused our request. A blocked read is not proof that no credit is owed, so we credit them anyway and record the verbatim wording as still outstanding.

coloradosos.gov's footer 'Terms & conditions' page read IN FULL (20,498 chars). Zero occurrences of 'attribution', 'credit', 'public domain' or 'redistribute'. Its only copyright clause is verbatim: "Some of the publications made available on this website are the intellectual property of the Colorado Secretary of State, and are protected by applicable law and may not be reproduced, in whole or in part, without the prior written permission of the Colorado Secretary of State." — that reaches PUBLICATIONS, not the business register data, and it specifies no credit line. 🔴 DISTINCT from the two ratified Colorado entries in this file: CO DORA and the CO notary contract both inherit the data.colorado.gov PORTAL disclaimer because they were collected through that portal. This register was not established to be, so the portal line is NOT inherited (C2: never infer from a sibling).

The CT SOTS footer's only policy targets are the statewide portal.ct.gov disclaimer and privacy policy. The disclaimer was read IN FULL (6,585 chars): zero occurrences of 'attribution', 'credit', 'public domain' or 'licence/license'. Its copyright clause is confined to the CT.gov NAME AND LOGO (property of the Office of Tourism), and its IP clause to the State Arms and Seal under Conn. Gen. Stat. §3-106a — neither reaches register data and neither specifies a credit line. Consistent with the already-ratified 'Connecticut Secretary of State (notary)' NOT FOUND, but established independently on the page, not inherited.
Florida Sunbiz (business register)

BLOCKED -> NOT FOUND. dos.fl.gov, www.sunbiz.org, search.sunbiz.org and dos.myflorida.com all still answer /robots.txt with HTTP 403 to our operator class, and sftp.floridados.gov publishes Disallow: / for * (all re-verified 2026-09-10, fail-closed, no page fetched). No permitted Florida channel carries the data-download terms. The question is nonetheless ANSWERED, by an already-RATIFIED estate verdict rather than by a page read: empire-legal-audit/verdicts.json 'Florida Sunbiz (business register)', ratified by Terry 2026-08-19, records verbatim "No explicit licence exists on the Sunbiz data-download pages, and none is required" — a STATUTE-BASED grant resting on Fla. Stat. §119.01(2)(f). A statutory public-records grant carries no attribution condition, so no credit is a licence condition here. Kept as a PRECAUTIONARY plain credit anyway, because our own read of the terms pages remains blocked and a blocked read is not proof that nothing is owed.
Google Places — audited paid corpus (dated tags only)
Google Places API business records, fishing-guide vertical, April 2026 audited pull
- Required credit:
Google Maps
- Last updated from source:

Verbatim: "When displaying Places API data without a Google Map, you must include the Google logo, adhering to the provided style guidelines and attribution requirements." Google specifies the Google Maps logo, or the TEXT "Google Maps" where space is constrained. There is no "Powered by Google" string mandated for this case. Scope is the 51 dated audited tags ONLY — the bare `google_places` tag is a separate, unresearched tripwire authority.
legacy_pre_path_y (unknown provenance)
Pre-PathY legacy rows — originating authority not recorded at load time
- Licence:
- No licence asserted — provenance not recorded
- Credited as (provenance not recorded):
- Compiled from publicly available listings (pre-2026 legacy data)
- Last updated from source:
- 2026-05-15
IRRECOVERABLE, NOT UNRESEARCHED. The originating authority was never recorded at load time, so no licence can be asserted and no credit can honestly be given. This is not closable by research; it closes by re-deriving provenance where a source identifier survives on the row, or by de-serving the remainder. In campgroundsnearme alone this is 2,840 SERVED rows.
New York Secretary of State (business register)
New York Active Corporations business register, NY Open Data extract

ALIAS, not a new authority. The NY business register is the Division of Corporations of the NEW YORK DEPARTMENT OF STATE, which already carries a ratified HIGH contract in this file ('New York Dept of State' — OPEN-NY Terms of Service, no attribution condition). This entry exists only so the census tag resolves instead of reading as unresearched. 🔴 The de-serve verdict for ny_dos is UNCHANGED and is NOT a credit question: POL §89(2)(b)(iii) is a solicitation-overlay bar (CLAUDE.md C5). Owing no credit is not permission to publish.

sos.oregon.gov's own 'Terms & Conditions' page read IN FULL (17,386 chars). Zero occurrences of 'attribution', 'credit', 'public domain', 'reproduce' or 'redistribute'. The five 'copyright' hits are a social-media comment policy, a third-party-trademark notice and a DMCA takedown procedure. No licence grant, no credit condition. Silent, not blocked.
